Get excited for your move!
We have compiled a checklist to help you with your move
4 - 6 weeks from settlement
Book your removalists. Let us know if you’d like a recommendation.
Organise home and contents insurance to commence a few days before settlement.
Notify Australia Post of change of address and arrange mail re-direction. (For a comprehensive list see the next page)
Consider booking a cleaner for the afternoon or evening of settlement for your new home. Unfortunately, when vendors vacate the property upon settlement there is no real level of cleanliness they need to leave it. We suggest the cleaner especially focuses on windows, cupboards, kitchen (especially the oven) and bathroom.
Transfer and set up utilities at your new address. Phone/Internet/Electricity/Gas/Foxtel. Water will automatically be transferred into your name at settlement and your conveyancer/solicitor will look after this.
If necessary, book a hard rubbish collection with your current local Council for any large items you will be disposing of before moving.
If necessary or applicable, order parking permits for your new home with the council. In order to get these permits the council may require you to supply a copy of your contract of sale to show you will be owning the home.

1 week out from settlement
Final inspection. We will liaise with you to arrange a final inspection at the property at a time that we can attend with you. This is to ensure that the property is in the same condition as it was at purchase. This is also a great time to take measurements and make sure things such as the fridge and washing machine will fit in the property. On this day, we will also discuss arrangements on how and when to collect keys on settlement day.
Feel free to read more information about the Final Inspection here.
Confirm the cleaners & removalists for moving day.
Check the day of the bin collection for your new area, by going to the local council website.
Confirm with your conveyancer/solicitor as to the time of settlement on settlement day… As keys will generally be ready to collect from the Real Estate Agent’s office approximately 1 hour after
this time.
Day of settlement
Your conveyancer/solicitor will call you let you know when settlement has gone through. They will also advise the real estate agent that settlement has gone through. As mentioned, please allow at least an hour to collect keys from the real estate’s office.
Collect your keys!
