Buyers Advocates and The Block

So you’ve watched advocates bidding like crazy on The Block and you’re wanting to know more about buyers' advocates and how it all works.

First of all, what you see on the block is NOT a good representation of what we do.

The thought of purchasing inflated real estate for our clients so we can get our name in lights for a few minutes doesn’t quite fit in with our business ethos.

These properties are built by enthusiasts (overseen by professionals), in ludicrously quick time frames, in order to win money in the form of buyers paying over reserve. Ummm, no thanks!

We help our clients buy their ideal property, and are ultimately guided by them. However, we also lead them with our advice. We advise our clients on what constitutes A-Grade real estate, and why buying A-Grade real estate is so important. Historically, The Block properties have been built on south facing blocks, bus routes, 2nd tier main roads and neighbouring commercially zoned property. A little less than A-Grade, you could say.

Seeing the advocates on the phone to their client throughout the auction, getting themselves and their clients emotionally involved and influenced by the auctioneer. Clearly without a strategy or pre-agreed walk-away budget, it’s a surefire way to overpay for property. Another thing we have hard and fast policies in place for.

We love that the block is shining a light on property advocates, it has definitely lifted the profile of Buyers Advocates in Australia. However, we want to make sure buyers also understand that away from the camera action, we operate very differently.

We work with a huge cross section of buyers and budgets. Of course we facilitate many multi million dollar purchases like they showcase on the block, but we also love working with first home buyers with sub $1m to spend. We are passionate about making sure people get their first step on the property ladder right.

So while we steer clear of the marketing geniuses at Channel 9 for our clients, we’ll still be watching along with the rest of Australia for the entertainment factor!
